About

We are two seniors at Vassar College living in apartments and trying to survive off of the meal plan for the first time. We're also neighbors, art history lovers, Downton Abbey fanatics and, of course, aspiring foodies.

This blog is dedicated to making delicious food and experimenting in the kitchen, but will also chronicle our adventures as we embark on living with our close friends, cooking, cleaning and surviving senior year.

Amy:
After keeping a blog while abroad in London last semester, cries from adoring fans (mostly of the grandparent-variety) inspired me to continue chronicling my life and my food. It also gives me an excuse to cook with Anne all the time- and as you will find out if you don't already know, she is a food goddess.

I also worked at a food company this summer (Peanut Butter & Co. in NYC), and thus spent a good deal of time on food blogs/websites. Just ask me a question about peanut butter. I dare you.

Favorite Foods: Fruit (watermelon, grapes, strawberries), meat (red), jello.

Cooking Philosophy: Recipes are annoying.

Goal for the Year:
Make homemade mayo, put Tobasco on everything (side goal: like spicy foods), get better at food photography, use up all the peanut butter I acquired this summer, graduate (maybe).

Anne:

While I'm a pastry chef at heart (don't worry mom and dad - I'm an art history major in reality...), cooking is a new found joy. I think it only developed out of a desperate need to be in the kitchen while at home, where my parents can't quite polish off a 3-layer cake, 20 cookies fresh out of the oven and a batch of muffins. Baking needs stressed, frazzled college students who are writing seminar papers and theses and don't have time to make dinner. And can you say Habitat for Humanity Bake Sale? Thank god for college.

Despite the fact that I can see into Amy's room from my kitchen (not at all creepy right?), this blog (and the fact that you can smell me baking cookies across the street) makes sure we get to cook together and catch up on our crazy lives every week. Plus, if we stick together, Amy and her econ major will be the perfect partners in crime to launch my future cake decorating business.

Favorite Foods: Everything that involves a cow, blueberries and blueberry anything, pecan pie

Cooking Philosophy: Be patient (seriously, if something is looking a little funky, just keep stirring); cook with love and friends you love

Baking Philosophy: Add Nutella.

Goal for the Year: Make butternut squash ravioli from scratch, conquer my fear of cooking raw meat, have a tea party, write a thesis, find a rug for our apartment.
